High Intensity Focused Ultrasound (HIFU) Applied to Phantom Gel from Onda - Video

Above is a transducer that generates six highly focused lesions on the surface of the eye. Below the transducer is a transparent material that replicates the eye tissue acoustic properties, and that changes from clear to white as the temperature of the tissue is increased beyond a damage threshhold. Observe how the lesions are made at the location of the arrows. Note the shape of the lesion, which has an unexpectedly curved shape that accurately represents the region where the temperature has exceeded the threshhold.
