What if we could treat the untreatable? In 1937 Charles Heidelberger from the University of Wisconsin collaborated with Roche scientist Robert Duschinsky to change the course of science and cancer treatment. At the time the work at Nutley was focused on tuberculosis research, but the pair saw potential in the molecule and its potential applications for oncology. The molecule they designed and synthesised eventually lead to creating one of the first cancer treatment ever made and set the course for others to come.
