Stem cells possess two defining characteristics that give potential to address unmet medical needs in healthcare: 1) the ability to self-replicate throughout the life of an organism and 2) the ability to differentiate to many different cell types in the human body.

We successfully isolated the hTSC from the chorionic villi of unruptured ectopic pregnancies. The chorionic villi develop from the trophectoderm of the embryo, which later becomes the placenta. hTSC’s pre-placental origin mitigates any ethical dilemmas involving the destruction of potential human life.
