AnaBios - Human Heart Tissue for Drug Discovery
The human heart is a complex organ of distinct sub-structures, different tissue types and cellular architectures that work in a coordinated fashion to pump blood throughout the body (Figure 1). Tissue distribution, cellular composition and gene expression vary throughout the heart to match regional function. Such organ complexity is precisely why AnaBios offers a suite of anatomically distinct human tissue samples that cover the breadth of cardiac functions (Table 1).
AnaBios - Human Spinal Cord Tissue
Functional Human Spinal Cord Tissue & Cells: AnaBios recovers human spinal cord tissue and cells in a highly viable state in order to probe the effects of compounds on spinal cord neurons. We have developed highly specialized recovery techniques to maintain tissue and cell viability such that the tissues can be sliced by vibratome and maintained in culture for weeks (organotypic culture). Researchers interested in the transcriptomic or proteomic signature of human spinal cord can acquire flash frozen or fixed human spinal cord samples at specified vertebrate levels with confidence that the tissue quality remains at the same level as human spinal cord used for organotypic culture.
AnaBios - Anabios Cryopreserved Human Hepatocytes
AnaBios primary human hepatocytes are isolated from donated human livers. All donated human organs and tissue have been ethically consented for research. Primary human cryopreserved hepatocytes are ideal for many scientific applications, including toxicity, metabolism, disease modeling, genomics, enzyme-mediated mechanisms, uptake, intrinsic clearance and more. When plated, human hepatocytes from the liver are metabolically active for 5-7 days and ideal for more extended studies, including transporter, induction and toxicity. Suspension format hepatocyte cells are suitable for shorter-term analysis between 2-4 hours, including clearance and metabolism studies.
AnaBios - Human Dorsal Root Ganglia Tissue
A human dorsal root ganglion (DRG) is the cluster of neuronal cell bodies that bilaterally lay along the spinal cord and form a principal element of the peripheral sensory neural system. Sensory stimuli are relayed via nerve fibers to the dorsal root ganglion and are transmitted to the spinal cord through synaptic connections to spinal cord neurons within the dorsal horn. Molecular discovery with human DRG is providing pain investigators with potential new targets for addressing pain and important evidence about peripheral nerve structure. Using customized techniques, AnaBios recovers human dorsal root ganglia in a highly viable state in order to probe the electrophysiological properties of the DRG neurons and assess compound effects on DRG neuronal excitability. Therapeutic compounds can be assessed for their analgesic potential by testing them on human dorsal root ganglia neurons.
AnaBios - Human Lung Tissue
Human Lung Tissue for Translational Research. The human lung is a key organ for multiple therapeutic endpoints, as well as a system that must be evaluated for potential drug-induced toxicities to ensure safety. Modeling the complex interplay of respiratory and vascular components through a reductionist approach has proven to be exceedingly difficult as significant differences exist between preclinical animals and humans1. To that end, AnaBios offers cryopreserved human precision-cut lung slices (PCLS) as an ex vivo preparation that maintains the complex cellular composition, native architecture and functionality of human lung tissue2.
