HIFU (High Intensity Focused Ultrasound)
With its complete range of Robotic HIFU devices, Ablatherm® and Focal One®, EDAP TMS is the most innovative company in non-invasive treatment for Prostate Cancer. By combining the latest technologies in imaging and treatment modalities, EDAP TMS recently introduced the Focal One® device as the answer to current requirements for ideal focal therapy of prostate cancer and as a complement to the existing Ablatherm® HIFU.
ESWL (Extracorporeal ShockWave Lithotripsy)
As a pioneer and key player in the field of Extracorporeal ShockWave Lithotripsy, EDAP TMS introduced the first modular lithotripter. The latest generation of shockwave source (Electroconductive Technology) and stone localization (Visio-Track) are utilized exclusively by EDAP TMS in its Sonolith® range of ESWL systems (Sonolith® i-sys and Sonolith® i-move).
Stone Laser
To offer a complete range of minimally invasive solutions covering the full scope of urinary tract stone indications, EDAP TMS has integrated in its portfolio an user-friendly 30W Holmium:YAG Surgical Laser the Laserlith® i-dust.

EDAP TMS: History and Innovations in treatment of prostate cancer and urinary tract stones
Since it was founded in 1979, EDAP TMS has been committed to introducing new and innovative technologies for a minimally-invasive approach to treating urological disorders. These proprietary technologies such as Focused Ultrasound or Piezo-electric shock waves have yielded new minimally invasive procedures for the treatment of several pathologies such as benign prostatic hyperplasia, localized prostate cancer or urinary tract stones. EDAP TMS' design philosophy is to develop minimally-invasive devices for the benefit of the patient associating treatment efficacy and safety. The strength of EDAP TMS Research and Development activity is to master mechanical, acoustic, electronic and IT technologies to produce state-of-the-art and ergonomic medical devices.
History & Innovations
EDAP TMS products are alternatives to traditional surgical procedures which often involve high costs, significant side effects and long recovery times. Founded in 1979, the Company EDAP originally specialized in the manufacturing and distribution of ultrasound scanners and produced the first piezo-electric lithotripter in 1985. Following a merger with Technomed International S.A. in 1994, EDAP TMS launched various generations of lithotripters, urological laser and Prostate Hyperplasia treatment devices (Prostatron) using TUMT (TransUrethral Microwave Therapy) while developing HIFU technology to treat Prostate Cancer.

By constantly investing in R&D, and by partnering with renowned medical research institutions (basic research and clinical research) EDAP TMS has developed a large patent portfolio based on its innovative technologies. The company annually invests 10% of its revenues in Research & Development activities (R&D) to maintain and strengthen its level of innovation and research. EDAP TMS develops innovate projects with the financial support of institutional partners such as, Agence National de la Recherche, BPI France, the DIRECCTE, the Grand Lyon, the Auvergne Rhône-Alpes Region.

EDAP TMS ensures an environment-friendly dismantling of its products by recycling components and sub-assemblies and upgrading or refurbishing its medical devices. The performance of its Equipment is not altered at all and fully conforms the CE mark requirements.
Sustainable development process commitment
In partnership with the company 'CLIKECO' (www.clikeco.com), EDAP TMS provides for regular recovery of used Waste from Electrical and Electronic Equipment (WEEE), as well as batteries, neons, plastics, hazardous and chemical products. By doing so, EDAP TMS France commits to its environmental obligations and takes part in a sustainable development process.
