Founded in 2008, S1 Biopharma is developing first-in-class drugs for the treatment of sexual dysfunction in both women and men. The company’s non-hormonal therapies work uniquely by restoring the natural balance of neurotransmitters in the brain. Female sexual dysfunction (FSD) affects 22% of women worldwide. Hypoactive sexual desire disorder (HSDD), or low sexual desire, is the most common form of FSD among women and is believed to be almost as prevalent in men. Despite the high distress and quality of life issues caused by sexual dysfunction, there has been very little progress in the development of safe, effective and validated treatments. S1 Biopharma is aiming to change the treatment landscape by developing drugs that treat several types of sexual dysfunction. Each of the company’s four product candidates in development has blockbuster potential.
