The Ultran Group

Founded in 1977 as Ultran Laboratories, our goal from the outset has been to advance ultrasound technology for practical purposes. Innovation is at the heart of what we do every day by pushing the envelope on product performance while applying core developments to customer applications. In the late 1990s, Ultran pioneered non-contact ultrasound technology by inventing a product design capable of efficient transmission of ultrasound through air. This invention enabled a new field of non-contact inspection for uncured parts and continuous & piece-part production, applied to aerospace, semiconductors, wood processing, food sanitation, and many more industries. Ultran’s core inventions continued in the 2000s with the invention of a new piezoelectric composite material, which powers all of our low frequency transducers, providing higher sensitivity and increased bandwidth. We have recently further enhanced this design producing 2D phased arrays used in ground-breaking medical therapies.
