About Us
Focused on preventing healthcare-acquired infections and conditions (HAIs and HACs) with smart sensors and wearables, Vitalacy is led by CEO and Cofounder Janel Nour-Omid, who was inspired to start Vitalacy after losing her grandfather to an HAI. These infections affect 1 in 31 hospitalized patients and cause more deaths each year than prostate cancer and breast cancer combined, according to the Centers for Disease Prevention and Control (CDC).
Janel vowed to prevent harm to patients and reduce the suffering endured by their families. Coupling her computer science and product development experience with her deep fascination with human behavior, she launched the Vitalacy Patient Safety Platform – designed to protect patients from preventable infections and conditions. The platform’s wearable technology can monitor hand hygiene compliance, provide hand hygiene reminders to care providers, track nurse rounding and workflow activity, and assess nurse fatigue risk to reduce the chances of medical errors.
Vitalacy’s wearable is the only option on the market that can measure the true duration of a hand wash. Headquartered in Los Angeles, Vitalacy partners with hospitals worldwide, assisting them to improve quality and safety measures. By gathering hand hygiene compliance data in real-time, the company gives hospitals an accurate and comprehensive picture of baseline performance, as well as the tools to improve performance and reduce infections. Having true and transparent data on compliance offers a powerful and sustainable foundation for healthcare organizations and their patients to thrive.
Revolutionary in its field, Vitalacy's technology seamlessly integrates hand washing into patient care workflow. This technology has been tested and installed in hospital and ambulatory care facilities.
