Aquila - Liquid Injection System (LIS)

SHARE
LIS is the first easy to use technology for automated feeding of liquids in shake flasks. It consists of three components: a sterile single-use Cartridge, the Drive and the LIS Software. Fill the cartridge with up to 25ml of any type of liquid, define your feeding profile and install the cartridge and drive on the flask. The Software allows you to create complex feeding profiles as well as to control and monitor your feeding experiments wirelessly. LIS will now run your chosen feeding profile and help you to unlock completely new experimental possibilities in shake flasks.

What is the LIS Drive?

The Drive is a programmable miniature pump that controls when and how much liquid is fed from the cartridge into the flask. You can either program the feeding profile in the Drive manually using the wheel on top of the drive or wirelessly by using the LIS Software.

Do I have to clean the LIS Drive?

No, the drive is never in touch with the actual liquid but separated from it by a sterile filter. Thus, you can reuse it after every experiment. Since the drive contains sensitive electronics, you can not autoclave it.

What are the minimal and maximal dispensing volumes?

The minimal dispensing volume is a single drop. Depending on the type of liquid, concentration and temperature this volume can vary but is typically 50µl. The maximal dispensing volume is limited by the maximal flow rate of the drive, which is 1000µl per minute.

Which feeding profiles are available?

Currently, the LIS Drive is capable of dispensing single/multi shots and constant feeding. Additional feeding profiles (e.g. exponential feeding) and a feeding profile generator are available in our LIS Software.
