On the Limits of GPR for Structural Assessments - Ground Penetrating Radar - Video
GPR is a great tool, but like any sensing technology, it has its limits. In this video I compare the ability of GPR and Ultrasonic Pulse Echo to identify the back of a slab and a 1mm delamination. As it is clear in the video, the GPR did a great job of identifying the back wall and could estimate slab thickness, but it struggled to identify the small delamination. The Proceq Pundit Ultrasonic Pulse Echo did a great job of identifying the back wall, except when there was a delamination. There it outperformed the GPR. It's important that users understand the purpose and limits of all available technology and use them to maximize value for customers and overall project success. PS. Thanks Professor Dave! If you use GPR and didn't know how this worked, then you should get further training. Check out our upcoming webinars, classes, and live workshops at LearnGPR.com.
